Always the thought provoker

Your movies are always so refreshing. I love the style, and I love the music!
Maybe in the future I could hit you up to make some lovely ambient music for a piece I make? That's would be pretty wicked.

At first when I was watching it, when they guy goes outside I thought he would frown at all the shapes he was seeing outside. Kind of like he was feeling guilty that he ditched his homework. Maybe the geometry was haunting him!
Then I realized it was making him smile because he was beginning to understand the work. I find this interesting, because it is a common experiance. Even if it wasn't meant to apply to more outside sources, it is a good, general message. "Taking a step back and viewing things from a new perspective may help to make sense of the situation." Taking a breather and a bit of a nature walk cleared the characters head so he could understand his homework.

Excellent film!
"Faily" 1st well earned for sure ;)

You should look forward to calculus, because you learn extremly easy ways to do some of these equations by deriving them :3

MorrowDays responds:

ahaha 'you should look forward to calculus'
thats not something you hear every day... :)

on the music thing... definitely. I want to get into that side of things more and more, so yeah, if you're doing something hit me uupp

I was going back and forth on whether he'd smile or frown at the shapes. In the end I went with smiling and going back to the homework because it made more sense to resolve and it had a better message I think. when I was playing out the alternative in my mind I couldn't really end it. He'd feel guilty/frustrated... but then what?
plus I like to STAY POSITIVE! rofl

thanks goat man

You so silly!

This is definately your breakthrough piece!
All you other work was pretty average, or just plain short.
This time around you can see the care and effort that went into finishing this piece.

I kind of like that you can see the last "frame" from where you erased it. It makes it much more clear that you are actually working at hand drawing all of this.
I was impressed by how consistant the movements were. When the turtle does his jump/walk all over it would be easy to accidentally change his size or just a sloppy looking frame here or there. But over all I thought it looked almost like a movieclip on repeat, which is very difficult to pull over.

Excellent work man. Probably deserving of a Daily 1st, just a busy day to submit :(
Finger crossed that you pick up another award or 2 tomorrow when the week ends!

turtleco responds:

we will see thursday...

glad you liked the animation, and now I kind of don't want to go back to flash, but I kind of have to...

as for the daily first, it was a tough race, less than 5 votes or so would've changed everything

But you're right about my average movies, I usually just dick around when it comes to making flashes, I never I apply a skill I have that can be used for something more creative, not that I lack creativity either. thanks :)

You've lost your touch in 8 years

Haha, well that's just pure gold!
I have all sorts of old Flash movies stored on my computer, but the only one that actually even had my little wee voice in it from when I was a child is too retarded to even show people. Serious 0 sense of humor.

I love watching old movies, and see you redo your old one just makes it that much more enjoyable. I think using your new voice would have been good. But I still enjoyed it.

And is the first line, "Practice?" ?
I think that's what I'm hearing...

LazyMuffin responds:

yeah, it's practice. q:

Great work!

You've both grown SO much in your ability to work with full bodied characters! Some action poses, and facial expressions were hilarious. The fast pace that is maintained throughout the movie is great as well.

Excellent use of both sound effects and music. That is a key part of movies that often gets overlooked, but really helped this piece come together.

Make me wish I had gotten a chance to work on "I Hate Snowmen 2"
But this came together far greater than anything I might have been able to pull of anyways! Both your styles work together completely in synch. There was a time in the past when I could actually tell who made which parts of your duo works, but now you just work so well as a team that it looks like a movie produced by one entity! I call him Torcy! Or Marmmy!

Awesome work you two. A great way to wrap up 2009. I can't wait to see you guys dominate the Flash portal next year :)

MarcyVF responds:

Love you goat! :) Thanks a lot for the support, looking forward to woking with you in 2010.
kind regards,
Marmmy

Nice quick dose of awesome!

The effect of thing pixelizing, then changing into a different scene was very cool. And was implemented very smoothly! Everything happened extremely quickly, but it was still simply enough to keep up with.
The animation, though using simply designs had a great flow and consistancy.

The sound effects were outstanding! There were about 4 every second, but I never felt like it was cluttered with sound.
The nice little song at the end to wrap it all up gave a positive overall feel to the rest of the movie.

A very quick animation, but it used a lot of cool techniques, and was very enjoyable. Great work!

MarcyVF responds:

!!! :)
thanks man! Glad you liked the sound, I was afraid it was getting a little to crammed.

I'm very undecided here

On one side, the animation and drawings are top quality.
You had some really cool uses of camera angles, and every bit of animation was smooth and detailed.

On the other side, this went nowhere.
I kind of thought that the fact that not a lot happens is poking fun at the fact that literally nothing does happen in old silent films.
But this still seemed lacking.

There were some funny things, like the monacle, goofy smile, and moustache on the transformer. Asking for an energon in an old time world was worth a giggle, and the little "Roll out" at the end was cute. Even some of the random ass oldy phrases cracked a smile.

Overall the movie felt like you had some bigger plot in mind, but shortened it part way through. It ended so suddenly, and there wasn't any real punchline...
Overall disappointing compared to what we know you can do.
A major appeal of your other works is your funny dialouge, and talents as a voice actor. This piece is missing this.

JohnnyUtah responds:

it was going to be part of something bigger, but you can just take what you get I guess.

I'm going to cry

You just broke my life

TheBoogley responds:

Poor old Goaty, I snapped it clean in half with my mind powers :D

Innovative

I loved it!
The animation is SOO smooth, and the colourful changing design really captures the interest.
The music is amazing, and couldn't fit better.

I love your little loops. Might not hold up so well as solo submissions, but if you made a compilation it would be really cool

TheBoogley responds:

yeah, I agree.
I'll try to think of a way to bring them all together into one big thing... :3

Silly

It's odd how the most generic character in the world can be so likeable!
Maybe it's his name!
Lovin the Stickya.

If he ever does have an episode, I could voice a character ;)

Lochie responds:

I shall name my child Stickya, raise him to be the most annoyest thing in the universe.

He shall become famous.

Incredible!

This is truly a masterpiece!
I loved it, and watched it probably 7 times in a row!
The animations is at a level beyond smooth. It all just flows so naturally.

Every time watching it I would change which character I focused on, and I could see how flawlessly you matched motion to sound.

I love how each original, and wacky character will just receed into the darkness when their portion is complete. It is interesting to see that every character will remain on screen at all times.

I've never seen anything like this before.
Perfect choice of song for this particular piece of work.

Favorited for sure!!

TheBoogley responds:

Thanks goatie, I'm glad you liked it! It was really hard work but I'll try and keep my work to around this level of finish in the future. :)

What's a goat?
