The Kill Boe 3 collab is a series of animated shorts, spending a day in the life of Boe, where he dies at the end of every animation. The collab is well underway! I currently have about 30 parts in-hand. So even if I was unable to add to it any more than this, there is MORE than enough to finish the whole thing off :)

But a few participants had to drop out, and were unable to complete their parts. So I am now looking for 3-5 additional animators to round it all out (I'd cut 1-2 parts out entirely if I cannot find enough people).

All details for the collab are in this forum post.

If you are at all interested, please reach out here, in that thread, or DM me with examples of your work.

Hopefully I'll be able to find people right away, and we can do fairly quick turn arounds on the actual animating to avoid any details. I would set May 29th as the deadline. But getting things back to me sooner would save a lot of grief!

Parts I'll need to replace:

Eating breakfast

Buying groceries

Using his computer

Taking out the trash

I want to fill those 4 up first. And if I hear back from 5 strong applicants, I will open "Sitting on a bench" back up as well.

I look forward to hearing from all you talented individuals!

I LOVE the idea behind the Flash Forward Jam. Proving that it is still a viable medium, while challenging creators to channel that old browser game mentality and presentation. I wish I had the time to make something for it myself! Hopefully next year.

In the meantime, I want to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the Flash Forward Jam 2022! There's buttloads of cash prizes to be won! I desperately want this to become a yearly event, OR (even better) bring Flash back to a level of viability where an event like this no longer feels necessary.

I just released a video showcasing the majority of the 51 submissions that took part last year. It was a great turnout! A huge thank you to @bomtoons @butzbo @cyberdevil @dungeonation @guy-unger @matt-likes-swords @starblinky @tomfulp and @johnnyutah for answering questions on their participation, and indulging me in a shared appreciation for all things Flash related!

I am putting together a collab to pay tribute to what is my very first game on Newgrounds, Kill Boe.

It's barely a game. It's a series of buttons...

Get the full details on the collab in this Newgrounds thread

That stupid little project is now nearing 15 years old! I made that thing HALF MY LIFE ago!!

There was also a sequel. It bore the incredibly original title of, Kill Boe 2.

I need animators willing to take on short little 5+ second animations to fill out a "day in the life of Boe". Where every little thing he attempts results in him dying. I have about 30 possible scenes planned. So I'm hoping to really build this up into something rather big!

Because the individual scenes are so short, I am setting a deadline of May 6th. Then I can have it compiled in time for my 30th birthday!

Abobo's Big Adventure has been heralded as the Ultimate Tribute to the NES. But it also stands as one of the greatest Flash games every created, as well as a monument to Newgrounds culture, and what a passionate team of creators banding together through this site can achieve!

A tremendous thank you goes out to @mockery @pestoforce and @poxpower for answering my questions, providing a plethora of behind the scenes details and exclusive first looks at various WIPs and other proposed ideas, as well as helping me with the final edit to add even more juicy details!

It is my hope that a video of this scale lives up to the enormity that is @Abobo.

Hopefully you find a bit of time to set aside, and binge this 75 minute monster! Maybe throw it on the background while you draw something up for the Abobo art contest (the deadline is still 6 days away!)

Thank you yet AGAIN. I love, and this site so damn much, and it is my absolute pleasure to share this with you all!

Alongside the Prince of Landis art contest going on now, there was another very special announcement this week...

I am teaming up with @hyptosis to bring Alice is Dead: Hearts and Diamonds to Steam!!

Give it a Wishlist. It helps a LOT!

This classic trilogy is being completely remade from scratch by the original creators.

With over 5 million plays on Newgrounds alone, it's hard to overstate how popular, and influential the series really was! This will be an amazing opportunity to polish these games, expand them, flesh out the world more, thread the narrative together a little more tightly, and (HOPEFULLY!) finally continue a story that has been left hanging for over 10 YEARS!!

In my quest to honor, preserve, and share the very best that Flash and Newgrounds has to offer - it is an absolute joy and privilege to be involved in this project!

Between Dead Estate, The Fancy Pants: Classic Pack, and now Alice is Dead - everything I've worked to publish is tied directly to this site and community I love so much!!

This is sort of a "soft announcement" as we are not ready to share our full plans at this time. Check out the Alice is Dead discord to follow along ahead of some proper announcements and details that will be coming as their ready.

Thank you for all your support, you wonderful people, you!

Cheers!

Yesterday was the 20th annual Clock Day!!

It's absolutely amazing to think such a silly tradition could last so long. It was something I hated, and rallied against in my early days on this site. But I have grown such a deep love for the Clocks, and the larger idea of crew culture around Newgrounds. They are a staple of the Newgrounds experience!

It was my pleasure to interview with @StrawberryClock for this mini-documentary. They are a real gem for answering my questions, and helping me add that extra layer of insight to this video.

I hope that through this, you were able to learn a little something extra about the history of the Clocks. Where they came from, what they're all about, and what a quintessential part of Newgrounds they really are! I hope it motivates you in some way to create or animate, and that you feel you've been brought deeper into the fold of Newgrounds' rich history. Here's to 20 more years of B!

---------------

(PS. We had 220 entries for the Fancy Pants Art contest. There has been a lot of back and forth while we nail down the winners. It's kinda like playing chess by mail, but I promise we'll have the results as quick as we can!!)

And to cap it all off, I release the long awaited, fully revised version of my Fancy Pants Flashlight video. It's now 3x longer, far more comprehensive, including snippets of an interview Brad Borne was kinda enough to take part in.

He had lots to share about the series, as well as larger conversations on Flash culture, and working in a creative field. I think it's well worth a watch, and one of the best videos in this series :)

I made a Pico history video! Huge thank you to Tom for both answering questions I had about Pico, and for shouting this out in the latest Newgrounds update :)

I hope that I did it justice, and that it's obvious from these videos how much I care about Flash history, and Newgrounds in particular. The first few of these history mini-docs I made averaged ~10 minutes. Now they've ballooned up to 25 or 30. I want to be thorough and share as much as I can!

The episode before this was on Tankmen, so I imagine people who are experiencing FNF as a gateway to Newgrounds lore will appreciate that one as well. But there are now 14 episodes total! Excluding a few unlisted ones (Fancy Pants, Crush the Castle, Madness, Infectonator, Zombotron, SCGMD) that I am no longer happy with.

That was before I started emphasizing creator interviews, and going DEEP on series histories. So they all feel really incomplete to me now. My focus will be on updating those over the course of the year, as well as some new installments like the Clock Crew.

I have a length running list with literally 100s of creators, series, trends, and more that I want to discuss with this series. But feel free to pitch me some that you'd like to see covered in the future :)

---------------

I also made TWO Pico Day submissions!

The first was a silly "animation" that pays tribute to a trend that kicked off on Newgrounds 16 years ago. So I imagine that concept and tribute is lost on many. But I am still happy to have technically taken part. Even if it was rather belated.

And yet another way to highlight myself as becoming a bit of an old timer, @MSGhero and @CarpetBakery helped me dust of some old work I had laying around from 2011 (HOLY CRAP!!) and turn it into a fully functioning game, and love letter to Newgrounds!

The latest installment of my Flash game/series/developer history and retrospective videos (Flashlight) is a feature on TANKMEN!

I start out with a brief history on the Newgrounds Tank logo, with a few questions answered by @TomFulp, as well as a look at the full series history (and potential future) including an interview with @JohnnyUtah.

Full transcripts are available over on my Patreon.

Huge thanks to those 2 for answering my questions, and helping lace this all together!

I hope that I did the series justice, and didn't leave out any critical part of it's history.

(This video is actually seeing a notably uptick in views the last few hours. If you are so inclined, dropping a comment on the youtube link would help a lot in boosting that upward trajectory. Cheers!!)

I am aiming to put out a Pico oriented episode for the month's end!

If you have any big questions you've always wanted answered about that series, leave a comment and I'll try to run those by Tom and/or MindChamber, if I get organized enough to roll out those intended interviews!
