My very own tablet!

Posted by Graeme - August 4th, 2008

Yay! I finally got my new tablet!
It actually came in Friday (the 1st), but I had to leave and just got back to use it.

This is my very first drawing with it, I hope with many more to come. I am still getting used to it, but hopefully in the end it will vastly increase my animating abilites!

EDIT: I forgot to say. It's a Wacom Bamboo. Picked it up for like $66 Canadian

My very own tablet!

I sometimes wish I had a tablet...

but saying you animate with a mouse sounds so much more impressive. =P

Well. I can still say everything up until this point was with a mouse :D

But, I'm thinking for now I'l just use it to make my backgrounds much nicer.
For realy basic quit animations, I might still use the mouse.

But, I do have a future project or 2 I think the tablet will be very useful for ;)

Nice. I can already tell your drawing and animating will improve =)

Hopefully :D
I did trace that tank, but I think it might be a bit smoother than with a mouse still.

If your artwork was awesome before, I can't imagine what it will be like now! =3

I don't consider my artwork awesome *blushes*
Haha.
But hopefully with a tablet it will get WAY better. Just from all the time I spent drawing with a mouse, my paper drawing skills improved. So I'm thinking with a tablet, they will grow even quicker!

i also got a new tablet!!!
yaaaay
i got a bamboo a6

Congratulations!
They are so fun to use, and it just feels so smooth to use. Although drawing staight is taking time to get used too :P

yup i know.
but i get better and better.

Yea. I can feel my pen movements getting smoother, and straighter already.
I have a small project with minimal animation that I started on the side for practice.

PS.
Don't hate me Pelo :(
It's to improve my skills :D

I have a tablet yet I still havent gotten used to it, I mostly use a mouse, Very nice drawing, tips?

Practice.
The tablet is awkward at first. There are plenty of pieces of animation (most backgrounds and more detailed things) that seem the be perfectly suited for the tablet!

But, on occasion I grab the mouse to do some quick things that would actually take longer with the tablet.

But overall, keep using it, and you will feel your skills with the tablet being constantly refined.
I know I'm already growing better with mine after just over a week only.

Tablets ftw, it takes some getting used to though...

pretty good drawing too

It is mostly traced :D

I wouldn't have a chance drawing it completely freehand. Haha.
But yea. I'm looking forward to using it in a big project!

The game me and Pelo are working on is at the stage where there isn't enough places to really use it anymore.
And the small game I made in like a day wasn't really all that much drawing, but still good practice.

What I'm really looking forward to, is the movie I plan to start right after Bill's Quest! Every background will be Tableted to the max!!

tablet :O

nice.

O_o

YOU BITCH.
Grats.

TEARS OF SADNESS!!!
Thanks.

Nice! I've had my wacom tablet since before I got flash. :) I didn't know everything else you've done was with a mouse! Now Goat Trip is doubly impressive to me! I tried animating without using my tablet once. Cough -sucked-

I had to force myself to learn to use the mouse.
For things like backgrounds and such, it's been a real bitch. That's why for most of my works, the backgrounds are minimal to nill.

I plan to make super backgrounds now though.
And, if it requires lots of FBF, it will be good there too.

For the occasional small things, I still like using the mouse though. Sadly, the tablet can't do EVERYthing.
(It could. Because it rocks. But I won't let it!!)

How much did you get it for?

To Noxx11:
A lot of great animators here in newgrounds use mouses.
The more you know!
;D

I got it for something like $66.
It's a Wacom Bamboo. Not a Fun, just regular.
It was only like $50-55. But after the shipping and taxes and whatnot.

I went here to try to find the best deal
http://www.pricebat.ca/Wacom-Bamb oo-Graphics-Tablet-Black.p_100433 34/
Since your also Canadian, it should work out just fine.

And to Noxx11, I believe FrozenSheep is referring to himself
:O
But also Luis. And I have seen that guy makes some pretty amazing graphics

50? Thats great. Its actually in my price range.
Since I am unable to buy things from the internet, I will attempt to find it locally. Future shop probably.

You can probably go online to like Future Shop or Best Buy (or anything in that nature) and look it up. Then check to see if they have any in stock in your area.

When you get one though, don't expect your drawings to be perfect.
If anything, after all the time spent with the mouse, tablet drawings will be worse than your mosue drawings.
But it takes much less time to get aquainted with a tablet than it does the mouse.

i liek um toning unto a newgounder mmkay?

hm?

this ur first tablet?
I really really want a tablet. Would be so much easier

bulutangkis=anus hair

Yes, it is my first.
Everything I have on the Portal right now was 100% mouse.
And yes, the tablet is much easier and faster.

And I don't know who that is, or why they are comprised of anus hair...

i gone get a http://www.tabletworld.co.uk/product.
php/5/2/wacom_bamboo_a6_wide_tablet__
_pen_usb_mac_win

Nice. That's the same as I got :D

meh, bamboo; i got a big phat a4 one (non-wacom) for about £60... i have a 19" monitor, so it helps, i found that for a 17" inch monitor, a5 is almost perfect :P

If I did the conversion right, that is something like $113 Canadian dollars. So it would have cost almost twice as much.

u rock.

Yes sir.
Thank you sir.

I'm sorry.

Don't sweat it.....?

Thats cool, but how did you get it for like $66 Canadian? Mine looks almost the same and I paid just over $100 Canadian. That was only 6 months ago.

Was yours a Wacom Bamboo Fun?
They are more expensive.

Mine was just a plain Wacom Bamboo

Its been a while I don't see any new work from your tablet what happened?
I've been drawing over time.

I've been working on a HUGE game. I started it without the tablet, so I'm going to finish wihout it too. That way it stays consistent.
As soon as that game is done, all me new animations will be loaded with tabletly goodness!
